Oil and Pastel Paintings

I began drawing, and that first step opened the door to a deeply rewarding exploration of oil painting and soft pastel on paper.

For me, painting is a playful yet profound way to process and make sense of my experiences. Many of my works are rooted in places I’ve been and moments shared with family—each image a personal response, shaped by memory, emotion, and observation.

About the Artist

Irida Hysenbelli

I grew up in Albania and moved to England at the age of 19, where I studied and lived for many years. From an early age, I was fascinated by creative expression in its many forms—drawn to the ways art can speak beyond words.

My path to painting began through Abeer Elkhateb, whose work and presence introduced me to the possibilities of this medium. About twelve years ago, I began drawing, and that first step opened the door to a deeply rewarding exploration of oil painting and soft pastel on paper.

I never imagined I would come to love painting the way I do—how it would intrigue, challenge, and absorb me so completely. Painting has become a space where I can channel energy, emotion, and curiosity. It allows me to slow down, reflect, and play with form, light, and feeling.

I continue to explore painting as both a personal practice and a quiet dialogue with the world around me.
